Reminder: DWeb Virtual Meetup Happening Tomorrow April 30 |
| This month’s virtual meetup is tomorrow, Thursday, April 30 at 10am PT | 1pm ET | 7pm CET. We will highlight a few of the projects and content tracks you’ll see at Camp this summer. Speakers include Will Scott from Protocol Labs, Lars Gierth from Freifunk, and organizers from Community Privacy Residency. Will is fascinated by network resilience. His work includes internet measurement, privacy-protecting messaging systems, and distributed protocols. He currently works on microproxy networks at Snowstorm and charting digital human rights at Protocol Labs. This presentation will put forth one way of decomposing the problem space, and point towards some of the tipping points that will be focused on in the Anti-Authoritarian Stack content at Camp this summer. Freifunk is a non-commercial initiative for free wireless networks based in Germany. They're a part of a global movement for free infrastructure and open frequencies to democratize the media through free networks. Lars will share the history and visions of Freifunk, and talk about they're approaching the network build out at Alte Hoelle, the DWeb Camp venue this year. Community Privacy Residency (CPR) is a 3-week residency bringing together researchers, builders, and community organizers to co-design and build open-source tools for community privacy. They will share the mission and motivations for their project and some of the cutting edge questions on privacy on the decentralized web. The team will be attending Camp this year, just before the residency takes place in the latter half of July. Join us for a sneak peek of what’s to come at DWeb Camp this summer. Presentations will be followed by audience Q&A with the speakers.

| There’s only a couple weeks left to lock in early bird tickets. If you’ve been thinking about going, now’s a great time to grab your spot before ticket prices increase. DWeb Camp is a co-created, participatory five-day gathering in nature for builders and dreamers dedicated to building a more decentralized, open, and resilient web. One of the great benefits of DWeb Camp is the chance to weave together many skill sets, experiences and perspectives. So, don’t forget to submit a proposal if you have an idea for what to share at Camp. We encourage you to think outside the box! In addition to talks, workshops, and demos, we'd love to see creative activations such as art installations, readings, games, hackathons, and performances. You are welcome to talk about a variety of topics, such as a movement you’re involved in, a personal interest, an insight you've had at a past Camp, or sharing the output of your DWeb project. The call is open until 23:59 PT on Friday May 8, 2026. |

Edge Esmerelda May 30 - June 27, 2026 Healdsburg, California Edge Esmeralda brings together 1,000+ people from the frontiers of tech, science, culture, and policy to prototype what a better society could look like, and begin building it. It is a "popup village" for people who believe the future can be better and are actively working to make it happen. Grounded in four core principles: it’s multidisciplinary, multigenerational, co-created, and healthy by default, Edge Esmeralda is a prototype for something bigger: a permanent village so the lessons learnt will be carried forward to build this long-term vision. The aim is for this to be the healthiest and most productive time of your year — a place to go deep in your work and learn from fellow experts in other fields while incubating novel technology and ways of living.
