Interpersonal computing refers to a computing paradigm focused on collaboration and group productivity through networked devices, shifting the emphasis from individual interaction with a machine to human-to-human communication via technology.

The concept was famously articulated by Steve Jobs in 1991 while promoting NeXT computers. Jobs argued that while the 1980s saw the mastery of personal computing for individual productivity, the 1990s would be defined by using desktop tools to revolutionize group collaboration, allowing people to form dynamic, geographically dispersed teams.

The term has also been applied by hardware manufacturers to describe specific multi-user devices. For instance, Lenovo introduced the IdeaCentre Horizon in 2013 as the first "interpersonal PC," a Table PC designed for multi-user, multi-touch experiences that allow multiple people to interact with the screen simultaneously for shared gaming and entertainment.
